Match Result:

A scrappy affair sees Madrid pick up their second preseason trophy edging Milan in penalties.

Both sides looked pretty even over 90 minutes with neither side able to make the break through.

Bacca went closest for Milan with his volley saved well by Cassila who ended up converting the final penalty for Madrid before saving his opposite number’s attempt to win it for Madrid.

AC Milan put in a good account for themselves but did fade in a second half in which Real couldn’t quite capitalise on their chances.

As always penalites were a dramatic way to decide the game with the young Milan keeper going from hero to villian in a matter of seconds after saving a penalty to keep Milan in it before missing his own to decide the game.

Final Score:
Real Madrid 0 – AC Milan 0 (Madrid win 10-9 on penalties)

Two of Europe’s giants go head-to-head in the Chinese leg of the International Champions Cup, as the Italian might of AC Milan come up against the Spanish style of Real Madrid. Join The Roar from 9:45pm (AEST) for all the action.

Both teams are starting to find their pre-season form, with AC Milan entering the match coming off a victory against rivals Inter Milan, while Real Madrid showned real class in disposing of Manchester City and Inter Milan in consecutive matches.

This game is the last for both sides in the humid Chinese climate and marks the downhill stretch of pre-season.

AC Milan are looking a much stronger team than the one that could only finish 10th in Serie A last season. The departure of coach Filippo Inzaghi, replaced by one-time Inter Milan player Sinisa Mihajlovic, has the club off to a strong start despite an early 2-1 loss to Lyon prior to their win over Inter. AC have bolstered their attacking options with the capture of Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano.

Both players and coach will be put to the test against a Real outfit already hitting their stride.

Despite a disappointing opening game in Melbourne, in which Madrid lost to Roma on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes, Real have found their feet, putting in commanding performances to defeat Manchester City 4-1 and then Inter 3-0.

Also with a new coach in the form of Rafa Benitez, Madrid have had a relatively quiet pre-season off the pitch with only departures making headlines. Yet with a robust squad that has shown its muscle in pre-season, it’s hard to find any room for improvement in the world’s most expensive sporting team.
