Aussie-born heavyweight Soa ‘The Hulk’ Palelei (22-4) will be searching for the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career when he takes on Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva (26-7, 1NC) at UFC 190 this Sunday in Brazil.

A win over Bigfoot would be phenomenal for Palelei’s career, and the Perth-based fighter has every confidence that he can get his hand raised in Rio.

“A win over Bigfoot will catapult to the top ten of the division and I’ll climb up from there, he’s a big scalp,” he said.

“He’s fought some of the best fighters and won, he fought Fedor. I believe I can beat him and I’ve got the right tools to do it.

“I’m very prepared for this fight, and I can’t for Saturday.”

In 2013 in Brisbane, Mark Hunt (10-10-1) and Silva fought to a draw in one of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time. Palelei has brought Hunt into his camp for his bout, and believes that he will be one of the keys to unlock success in this bout.

“We’ve put in some game plans throughout my camp, so we’ll use that on Saturday,” he said.

“What I’ve learnt, the knowledge I’ve picked up from Mark (Hunt), I’ll be able to use that on Saturday against Bigfoot.

“Obviously Mark has already fought Bigfoot and they had a war so he’s knows exactly how I can win and I’m looking forward to it.”

Of Palelei’s 22 wins, 18 have come via knockout, and The Hulk is coming off a second-round stoppage win over Walt Harris (7-4) in Sydney last November.

Live play-by-play coverage of UFC 190 will be available here on The Roar from 12pm AEST on Sunday August 2.
