Nathan Fyfe won’t be seen for Fremantle until the AFL finals series kicks off after suffering an injury to his left leg.

The dashing midfielder and Brownlow Medal favourite has been diagnosed with periostitis; otherwise known as inflammation in the fibula.

Fremantle’s football operations boss Chris Bond said medical advice suggested the 23-year-old should be available again after a two-week break.

Fyfe will miss the home match with Melbourne on Sunday and Fremantle’s trip to play Port Adelaide in round 23.

After missing Round 18, Round 19 and most recently Round 21, Nathan Fyfe’s chances of taking home the Brownlow Medal have taken a serious hit.

By missing five of the final six rounds, Fyfe will need to have tallied a winning total by the end of Round 17, assuming he would be lucky to score many votes in Fremantle’s four-goal derby loss to the West Coast Eagles in Round 20.
