Ronda Rousey is set to fight Holly Holm in Melbourne as part of UFC 193 after the fight was moved up in schedule following Robbie Lawler’s thumb injury.

Lawler was set to defend his welterweight title against Carlos Condit but his injury has seen the fight postponed with the Rousey v Holm battle moved forward instead.

She will now be the headline act for UFC 193 which takes place at Etihad Stadium on November 14, and UFC president Dana White is confident the event will shatter the mixed martial arts attendance record.

The current UFC attendance record is 55,724 set in 2011 at UFC 129 in Toronto, but with Etihad Stadium’s 56,000 seat capacity – likely to be boosted further by additional seating on the playing field – a new record seems likely.

Rousey is regarded as the world’s most marketable mixed martial arts fighter and is undefeated from twelve fights, having won all but one of them in the first round.

Her opponent, Holly Holm, is also undefeated from nine fights but those in the know are tipping her to be another easy opponent for Rousey.

Rousey took just 34 seconds to defeat her last opponent, Bethe Correia, earlier this month in Rio de Janeiro.

The event will also feature Australian heavyweight Mark Hunt fighting Antonio `Bigfoot’ Silva on the undercard.

The current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Rousey is the consense #1 female MMA fighter in the world and earlier this year was ranked the world’s most dominant athlete.

In 2008 she became the first US woman to win an Olympic medal in Judo at the Beijing Olympics, but switched to Mixed Martial Arts in 2010.

Her success has also seen her appear in feature films, her first role being in The Expendables 3 in 2014, followed by appearances in Furious 7 and Entourage in 2015.
