Joe Burns may have had little time in the baggy green but is this guy the future of Australia?

Burns debuted for Australia in the Boxing Day Test against India in 2014, due to an injury to Mitchell Marsh.

Out cheaply from a nothing ball from Umesh Yadav, a lot of people thought this would be the end of Burns, but the selectors gave him another chance.

In his second Test in Sydney, Joe was able to make two half centuries and showed great signs. Yet he was then forgotten until being selected in the squad for The Ashes.

Burns didn’t get a game but he made his ODI debut last week against Ireland. This was a huge game for him to see where he was at and Burns scored 69 off 70 balls, hitting a number of boundaries including a six. He was aggressive and had a nice defence.

While he batted at number six in the two Tests he has played, Burns could be Australia’s next opener. He would be a perfect replacement for the retired Chris Rogers, and David Warner and Burns could be the next big thing.

Joe Burns looks like a perfect fit for Australia. I certainly hope Burns gets another chance in the whites and I’m sure if he does, he won’t disappoint!
