Jarryd Hayne and the San Francisco 49ers will play their final NFL pre-season match against the San Diego Chargers.

The teams will square off at Levis Stadium at midday AEST, Friday 4th September. The 49ers have won just one of their three trial matches, and are coming off a 19-12 loss to Denver on Monday.
The Chargers on the other hand, have had a more successful pre-season – beating the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals before losing to the Seattle Seahawks by just one point.
The 49ers offence was their achilles heel last year and it hasn’t shown any great signs of improvement in the past couple of weeks.
Backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert will probably play out the whole game with coach Jim Tomsula unlikely to risk Colin Kaepernick this close to the regular season.
The battle for the 49ers third wide receiver spot will be played out. With Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith locks for the season, Quinton Patton, Bruce Ellington and DeAndrew White will have their last chance to impress before the final cuts.
But the collective gaze of Australia won’t be on any of these players – it will be squarely on they boy from Minto, Jarryd Hayne.
Hayne has done everything in his power to push for a role in the 49ers special teams roster and will likely be given some decent game time to prove himself.
His only problem is San Francisco are replete with running backs and returners so it’s vital that he grabs this opportunity today with both hands to cement his position.
Some think he’s already locked in his spot on the roster, others have their reservations.
