The Socceroos recorded an explosive win over Bangladesh in Perth, taking them to six points and first place in our World Cup qualifying group.

Goals from Matthew Leckie, Tom Rogic, Aaron Mooy and Nathan Burns saw the Aussies home.

Here are my player ratings for the five-goal thrashing.

Adam Federici – 5.5/10
Was not called upon except to pass to Tarek Elrich here and there, which gave the fans a delightful cheer. Will definitely be between the sticks in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Tarek Elrich – 8.5/10
Elrich had multiple crosses, most finding Leckie or Burns in the middle, who were our main source of attack in the first half. He also gave the pass to Luongo to set up the first goal.

Bailey Wright – 5.5/10
Hardly called upon, but good for him to grab a full international match. Could possibly start against Tajikistan as well.

Matthew Spiranovic – 5/10
Gave away a few fouls in the second half after a very quiet first half. Had more attempts at goal from corners, one just shy of the post.

Jason Davidson – 7/10
Both fullbacks impressed last night, Davidson doing what he does best in attacking movement. Great use of the left-hand side saw him put in a number of successful crosses.

Mark Milligan – 6.5/10
Very quiet 90 minutes in the first-half, but assisted Mooy’s stunner in the second half. Hardly put a foot wrong before being substituted in the 76th minute for Jackson Irvine.

Massimo Luongo – 6.5/10
Another great 90 minutes for the Asian Cup star. His assist for our first goal, scored by Leckie, was almost identical to Australia’s first goal in the Asian Cup. Should have got on the scoresheet himself early in the first half.

Aaron Mooy – 7.5/10
A goal and an all-round great game for the new Melbourne City marquee. He was all over the pitch, especially in assisting his full backs. His one-touch passing was outstanding, and really brings a new cutting edge to the side.

Tom Rogić – 8/10
What a start to his club season and what a return to Australia. It was written in the stars that the Central Coast boy would come back and strut his stuff.

Scoring our second goal in his first game since early 2014, and he had another shot, which deflected into an own goal. Substituted for Chris Ikonomidis in the 61st minute.

Matthew Leckie – 7.5/10
Finally some goals for the young Bundesliga star, scoring a pearler last week for club, and a nice finish this week for country!

As always looked dangerous and won many headers from Elrich and Davidson’s crosses. Substituted for Tim Cahill in the 61st minute.

Nathan Burns – 7/10
After a scrap in the box, finished just behind the keeper to get on the scoresheet. Had many chances late in the first half to add to his tally, and put great pressure on the tiring defenders in the second half.

Tim Cahill – 5.5/10
In 29 minutes he had one shot on goal and contested for a few headers, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Will likely start in Tajikistan.

Chris Ikonomidis – 5.5/10
Expressed some terrific passing play in the midfield, and made a mess of the Bangladesh defence, winning headers in the box and almost scoring with a header hitting the crossbar. Still the only Socceroo to have international minutes and no first-team club minutes.

Jackson Irvine – 5/10
A terrific attempt at a man-bun, but otherwise nothing too spectacular from Irvine. Still, good to see two new call-ups getting minutes, in Irvine and Rogic.

Could see another substitution appearance from him in Dushanbe.

Man of the match – Tarek Elrich
Was involved in every attack, making the right movements all game. Definitely starting in Dushanbe.

The Socceroos now travel to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, full of confidence for their third group game.
