The world number one and first seed for the 2015 US Open, Novak Djokovic continues his quest to win a third grand slam for the year when he takes on Italy’s Andreas Seppi in the third round.

Join The Roar for live scores of this match from around 4:30pm (AEST) or following the Belinda Bencic vs Venus Williams match on the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Across the first two rounds of the US Open, Djokovic has won both his games in straight sets and across the six sets of tennis he has only lost 10 games.

It has been an incredible domination so far and he hasn’t looked like losing. While his opponents haven’t been anything of a high calibre and Seppi will be a much bigger challenge he has been so dominant it is hard to see where anyone is going to steal a set against him, let along a match.

Even his form leading into the tournament was brilliant, although Roger Federer and Andy Murray have found ways to beat him in the lead up.

Meanwhile, looking at Seppi and his form leading up to the US Open was almost horrific, only getting to play three matches across two tournaments after losing matches to Gilles Simon and Feliciano Lopez.

In the first round, Seppi managed to record a domiant straight sets victory over Tommy Paul, however in the second round he was taken to four sets against Teimuraz Gabashvili who is currently ranked 53 in the world.

Djokovic and Seppi have incredibly faced off on 11 separate occasions throughout their careers and Djokovic has won on ever single one of them. In fact he has only lost a set on three occasions and and never on the hard court despite playing Seppi 7 times there.

That is an incredible record and you could understand that Seppi will be feeling incredibly down on confidence heading into this one.

The only thing that could work into Seppi’s favour is a hint of complacency from Djokovic. He has been doing most things so easy this year, and has done so against Seppi in the past that he may not turn up for the game properly.

Prediction: Djokovic should fly through this game and it would come as a shock if Seppi could steal a set given past encounters on the hard court.

Djokovic in straight sets.
