Sharp-shooter Jay Schulz kicked four goals as Port Adelaide belted a second-string Fremantle by 69 points in Saturday’s AFL match.

Schulz, rumoured to be a transfer target of the Dockers, was the dominant forward in Port’s 18.14 (122) to 8.5 (53) triumph at Adelaide Oval.

The Dockers, assured of top spot regardless of the result, rested a dozen players – 11 at the selection table and late scratching Zac Dawson.

Fremantle will likely host a qualifying final against Sydney next Saturday night but enter the playoffs with three losses from their past four games.

Port finish the season with 12 wins, one shy of eighth-placed North Melbourne – missing the finals for the first time in three seasons under coach Ken Hinkley.

The Power boss delivered an old-fashioned spray on Saturday which revved his side into gear after an idle start against Fremantle.

Freo’s makeshifters booted 4.4 to 1.3 in the first term, prompting an angry Hinkley to deliver a finger-pointing blast at quarter-time.

Power players responded in stunning style: nine goals to nothing to create a match-defining 30-point halftime lead before 38,633 spectators.

Port’s Robbie Gray potted three goals and Justin Westhoff and Matt White two each, while emerging midfielder Sam Gray (34 disposals), Hamish Hartlett (28 touches) and Brad Ebert (28 touches) were influential.

Fremantle suffered no fresh injuries and were well served by Michael Barlow (35 disposals). Lachy Neale collected 22 possessions until being substituted late in the third quarter and Matt Taberner kicked two goals.
