From football hero to Hollywood star to infamous accused murderer: Muted tributes for OJ Simpson
The extraordinary episodes after his life as an American Football hero quite overshadowed the career of O.J. Simpson, who has died at the age…
It was an eventful and successful first match in the NFL for Jarryd Hayne, as his San Francisco 49ers ran out 20-3 victors against the Minnesota Vikings.
Hayne finished the match with four carries for a total of 13 yards and one receive for a total of seven yards, giving him a total offensive gain of 20 yards for the match.
On the defensive side of the ledger, Hayne also registered one solo tackle.
The one stat Hayne will be shaking his head at is the single fumble he registered with his first (almost) touch of the game. Well placed to take the catch from a kick return, Hayne fluffed the catch and turned the ball over.
He was quick to redeem himself however, with opportunity in the second quarter which he returned for 11 yards. Unfortunately though, the play would not count due to a penalty.
His finest play, and longest run for the match would come early in the second half when he gained nine yards with a barnstorming run.
Jarryd Hayne’s stats against the Minnesota Vikings:
Carries | Yards | Receives | Yards | Tackles | Fumbles |
4 | 13 | 1 | 7 | 1 | 1 |
