Manchester City will be eager to reclaim top position on the English Premier League table when they host a struggling Newcastle United. Join The Roar from 12 midnight (AEST) for live scores.

After a strong start to the 2015-16 season, City have slipped to second on the table behind bitter rivals Manchester United.

A devastating 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in their last Premier League fixture saw them give up three points in a game where they were ahead.

Despite the loss, City found their winning ways midweek in the UEFA Champions League, with Sergio Aguero’s penalty finding the net in the 90th minute to secure the Citizens comeback against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Manchester City are unbeaten by Newcastle in their last 17 fixtures, winning 15 and scoring 39 times.

Newcastle United are in desperation mode just eight weeks into the season.

After four straight losses, the Magpies finally had a positive result in their last fixture, salvaging a 2-all draw against defending champions Chelsea.

Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum put Newcastle in front, however the Magpies could not hold on as Chelsea came back late.

Newcastle sit 19th, with just three points, and haven’t managed to score against Manchester City in their last five games.

The last time City and Newcastle faced off was February this year, as the Citizens ran all over the Magpies in a 5-nil win.

Prediction
If City can find their shooting boots, they should make it 18 games unbeaten against Newcastle.

Manchester City 3–0 Newcastle United
