It’s the Wallabies‘ most important match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup to date as an undefeated Australia comes up against a struggling England with finals on the line. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:00am AEDT on Sunday October 4 at Twickenham Stadium.
The match will be televised both via Free-to-Air channel GEM and also on Foxtel via Fox Sports 2. On Fox Sports 2, the pre-game coverage will begin from 5:15am, while it begins at 5:45am on GEM.
The drama in the ‘Pool of death’ is beginning to unfold and England are in danger of missing out on the Rugby World Cup finals despite hosting the tournament after a three-point loss to Wales.
Wales themselves are on top of the table in Pool A with three wins from three starts – against England, Fiji, and Uruguay.
England and Australia have both played only the two matches so far. The English defeated Fiji in the first match of the tournament but their loss to Wales has them in doubt for finals.
Australia on the other hand have had two solid wins, first over Fiji and most recently a big win over Uruguay.
Which two teams survive Pool A and which falls out could depend heavily on this match. If Australia best England, the English will be two wins behind both Australia and Wales, making it virtually impossible for them to recover.
Should Australia fall short against the English, then it will be up to them to defeat Wales in their remaining Pool match, with the results there to likely determine which of the three misses out on the semi-finals.
To win the Wallabies will have to defeat England at Twickenham, something they have done only once in their last four meetings there.
In fact England have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides, including the last two straight at Twickenham.
England are the favourites to win the match with betting agencies, at odds of $1.71 to win, while Australia are out to $2.14.
