In the most thrilling grand final in the history of Australian rugby league, the Cowboys came out on top of the Broncos to win 17-16 from a Johnathan Thurston field goal after Kyle Feldt sent the game to golden point, scoring a try on the siren.

Brisbane Broncos

Darius Boyd – Ordinary at best, Boyd made 139 metres from 17 runs and 7 tackles. He was able to keep calm in key moments. 6/10

Corey Oates – Oates started the game strong going over for the first try and saving another. He made 206 metres off 16 runs with 5 tackles. 7/10

Jack Reed – Reed was instrumental in Oates’ try and scored one of his own soon after. He managed to take Antonio Winterstein to in-goal which held off the Cowboys attack, 9 runs for 81 metres with 17 tackles and a linebreak. 7/10

Justin Hodges – Hodges was quiet in his final game, he made 12 tackles and 11 runs for a total of 83 metres. 5/10

Jordan Kahu – Kahu was great under the high ball and made 100 metres from 12 runs with a poor defensive haul of 2 tackles. 6/10

Anthony Milford – Milford set-up the Broncos’ first try and managed 199 metres from 16 runs. He managed 15 tackles and 2 linebreaks. 9/10

Ben Hunt – Hunt failed to keep his eye on the ball, which failed him in the end after dropping the ball off the kick-off at the start of golden point to hand the Cowboys the ball 10 metres out from the line. He had 4 runs for 63 metres, made 21 tackles and 1 line break. 5/10

Sam Thaiday – Thaiday was impressive on defence where he made 41 tackles. He ran 12 times for 118 metres. 7/10

Andrew McCullough – McCullough had a huge defensive game with a total of 47 tackles and made 27 metres from 3 runs in attack. 7/10

Adam Blair – Blair made a total of 42 tackles and ran for 76 metres off 10 runs. 7/10

Alex Glenn – Glenn was outstanding in defence making 37 tackles and 7 runs for 67 tackles. He was great in stopping Johnathan Thurston from kicking a field goal on his first attempt. 7/10

Matt Gillett – Gillett was great in attack with 101 metres from 11 runs. He made 41 tackles and set-up Jack Reed’s try. 8/10

Corey Parker – Parker ran for 166 metres from 18 attempts and made 43 tackles. 7/10

Jarrod Wallace – Wallace was great off the bench making 17 tackles and 100 metres off 10 runs. 6/10

Mitchell Dodds – Dodds was quiet making 15 tackles and 5 runs for a total of 39 metres. 5/10

Joe Ofahengaue – Ofahengaue didn’t play many minutes, he managed 10 tackles and 38 metres from 4 runs. 3/10

Kodi Nikorima – Nikorima only made one run for 7 metres, and made 7 tackles. He didn’t last on field for long. 2/10

Lachlan Coote – Coote was very ordinary until the dying stages of the game. He made 182 metres from 19 runs and 3 tackles. 5/10

Kyle Feldt – Feldt played poorly at the start of the game after failing to return a kick and being taken in goal. Feldt had a strong showing in the last minute getting the ball back 40 metres out for the Cowboys and scoring a try on the siren to send the game into extra-time. He chewed up 109 metres from 11 runs including a line break and made 4 tackles. 7/10

Justin O’Neill – O’Neill ran for a huge 203 metres from 19 runs making 10 tackles on his way as well as a line break. He scored the Cowboys’ second try. 7/10

Kane Linnett – Linnett had a shocker bombing two tries but made up for it by running 207 metres from 21 runs and making 12 tackles. 5/10

Antonio Winterstein – Winterstein made a line break, 157 metres from 13 runs and 5 tackles. 5/10

Michael Morgan – Morgan intercepted a pass to save the Cowboys’ from an oncoming attack and also set-up Feldt’s try to keep them in the game. He made 14 tackles and 127 metres from 13 runs. 8/10

Johnathan Thurston – Thurston made a line break, 152 metres from 17 runs and 9 tackles as well as setting up the match-winning field goal. He failed to pass toward the end but led the team to their first premiership in the end and won the Clive Churchill Medal on the way. 7/10

Matthew Scott – Scott made a massive 132 metres from 12 runs as well as 28 tackles. His high workrate was impressive. 7/10

Jake Granville – Granville made 6 runs for 64 metres and 34 tackles with two try assists. His passes toward the end were poor. 8/10

James Tamou – Tamou ran 159 metres from 15 runs and made 31 tackles as well as a linebreak. He also scored the Cowboys’ second try. 8/10

Gavin Cooper – Cooper was impressive in defence making 38 tackles and 105 metres from 11 hit-ups. 7/10

Ethan Lowe – Lowe was a silent achiever making 106 metres from 10 runs and 27 tackles. 7/10

Jason Taumalolo – Taumalolo played well making a huge 170 runs from 14 runs and 34 tackles. 8/10

Rory Kostjasyn – Kostjasyn did not take a run but managed 22 tackles. 4/10

John Asiata – Asiata had limited time but still managed 20 tackles and 84 metres from 10 runs. 6/10

Scott Bolton – Bolton had a strong start making 24 tackles and 101 metres from 9 runs. 7/10

Ben Hannant – Hannant played well making 97 metres off 9 runs and 34 tackles. 7/10
