Jarryd Hayne took to the field for his fifth NFL match as the San Francisco 49ers travelled to New Jersey to face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Although the 49ers would suffer a tough loss off the back of a last minute touchdown to the Giants’ Larry Donnell, Hayne once again showed some promising signs at both punt returner and running back.
It took until the third quarter for Hayne to get his hands on the ball, taking a catch from fellow Australian, Brad Wing.
Hayne then got a crack as a running back, taking it up to the three yard line on two occasions. Although Hayne didn’t score, his drive proved crucial in the 49ers setting up a touchdown.
By the end of the third quarter Hayne would have two runs totalling nine yards and one punt return for 16 yards.
