Australia’s netball world champions, the Diamonds, will take on arch-rivals the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the Constellation Cup, starting tonight.
The Silver Ferns will be out for redemption having lost to the Aussies in the World Cup final earlier this year.
The Diamonds have won four of the last five Constellation Cups but the New Zealanders have improved dramatically over the past year and are a real shot at upsetting the Aussies.
They’ll have to do it without gun goal-attack Maria Tutaia though, while the Diamonds have named an extended squad so coach Lisa Alexander can trial some new defensive options after the retirement of Kim Green and Corletto and Bec Bulley.
Game one tips off at 5:45pm (AEST) at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena.
