Match result:

Newcastle United have earned an unlikely win over Bournemouth in the EPL, winning 1-0 despite taking just two shots to twenty.

REPORT: PEREZ LIFTS NEWCASLTE OUT OF RELEGATION ZONE

United keeper Rob Elliot was in good form, repelling Bouremouth’s attacks, while a goal from Ayoze Pérez in the 27th minute saw United win with the only score of the match.

It was just the third win from Newcastle’s last 23 outings, and sees them escape the relegation zone for the time being.

Bournemouth are currently on eight points at 17th place and are one point above Newcastle who sit one place below them at 18th.

Newcastle have just come off a 3-0 loss to bitter rivals Sunderland but have had very up and down form, also beating Norwich 6-2 and most recently drawing to Stoke City.

Bournemouth have come off a series of losses to Manchester City and Tottenham who both beat them 5-1 and Southhampton and Liverpool who beat them 2-0 and 1-0.

Many Newcastle players are injured for the fixture against Bournemouth including Tim Krul, Massadio Haidara, Jack Colback, Emmanuel Riviere, Steven Taylor, Daryl Janmaat and Rolando Aarons.

Back-up keeper Rob Elliot also looks unlikely to feature this weekend, giving them a serious crisis in between the sticks.

Bournemouth have also lost a few key players with three new signings looking to be out with Tyrone Mings, Christian Atsu and Max Gradel. All of whom joined during the previous transfer window. First teamers Callum Wilson and Artur Boruc both look to be out as well.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez will be the players to look out for both making a decent duo up front for Newcastle and could be the difference against Bournemouth. Matt Ritchie could be the danger man for the away side with his thunderbolt of a left foot proving very useful for club and country this season.

Newcastle should win this if they play as well as they have been. The Toon weren’t connecting passes and plays last season like they are currently and Bournemouth have recently been promoted and haven’t shown too much yet. Newcastle will win 2-1.
