Captain Steve Smith has confirmed Australia will field an unchanged XI for the second Test against New Zealand in Perth.

The hosts cruised to a 208-run win at the Gabba, where Peter Siddle was 12th man.

Siddle has rejoined the squad but as expected the Victorian will again be on drinks duty when the WACA clash starts on Friday.

Smith and coach Darren Lehmann were both critical of the side’s new-ball bowling in Brisbane, but selectors were never going to make a change unless it was forced due to injury.

“The conditions are going to be pretty similar to the Gabba,” Smith said.

“It looks a very good wicket out there, so we’ve gone in with the same team.

“He (Siddle) was talked about. He’s bowling really well at the moment, but we’ve won the last Test with this line-up.”

Smith was unsure who would take the new ball.

“The breeze will play a part,” he said.

Australia will take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-Test series if they defeat the Black Caps in Perth.
