A seven-year-old boy has become a viral sensation after hiccupping his way through a performance of the Australian national anthem at a baseball game in Adelaide.

The boy, Ethan, was struck with the extremely untimely case of hiccups from the opening line, but soldiered on to complete the performance, much to the delight of the crowd who gave a huge round of applause.

The players from the Australian Baseball League match between the Brisbane Bandits and Adelaide Bite also gave Ethan high fives as he celebrated completing the anthem with a sprint around the pitch.

Speaking to local paper The Advertiser following footage of the performance going viral, it was clear Ethan was unfazed by his new-found fame, saying it made him ‘very excited’.

“I feel special and I feel famous… so many people have seen my anthem,” Ethan said.
