Melbourne City welcome Perth Glory to AAMI Park as two struggling A-League sides look for a morale-boosting victory. Join us on The Roar from 7.40pm (AEDT) for the live scores and commentary.

Both Melbourne City and Perth Glory have been far from their best in recent weeks.

Despite a strong start to the season, with international marquee Bruno Fornaroli settling in quickly with a few goals, City have lost their cutting edge. This is largely due to the tired return of Aaron Mooy from international duty.

A 3-0 home loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers a fortnight ago was followed up with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar last week. Despite being gifted a number of opportunities to grab more goals after some horrendous goalkeeping mistakes from Jamie Young, City couldn’t put the game to bed. They paid the price with Henrique equalising late on.

Mooy returned to the side against Brisbane after missing the Wanderers clash but wasn’t quite at his best. The arrival of his first baby mid-week may just spark a return to form for the Socceroo who at his best can decide a game.

Perth has had an even worse run in recent weeks, winless and goalless in their last four games including their FFA Cup final loss to Melbourne Victory. With just one win and a draw to their name after six A-League games, the one win coming against the bottom of the table Adelaide United, Perth have really struggled to put in an all-round performance.

Attacking displays have often fallen flat and their defence hasn’t been able to hold out for the full 90, with the exception of last week where 30-degree heat helped them in a scoreless affair with Sydney FC.

Despite poor form, the Glory has plenty of class with veteran goalkeeper Ante Covic between the sticks, Gyorgy Sandor pulling the strings in midfield until an ankle injury and Richard Garcia working hard up front alongside foreign imports Diego Castro and Guyon Fernandez, who have yet to fully settle in Down Under.

As they say, form is temporary and class is permanent, an adage Glory will be hoping comes true against City on Friday night.

In terms of how the two teams will be lining up, City is relatively unchanged from last week with the only changes coming in the promotions of Jason Trifiro and Hernan Espindola. They are, however, still without Aaron Hughes, Robert Koren, James Brown and Patrick Kisnorbo through injury.

The Glory line-up will undoubtedly be different from last week after losing Alex Grant and Josh Risdon through injury but welcoming back Antony Golec and three others via promotion to the first team. Glory, like City, are similarly suffering from long-term absentees, which include Dino Djulbic, Sandor, Ruben Zadkovich and Fernandez.

Perth have had the edge over City in recent encounters winning their past two games 3-1 respectively. They are yet to win away against their opponents however, with AAMI Park a fortress City will hope remains intact after this match.

Join us on The Roar from 7.40pm (AEDT) to find out which side can finally find some form.
