Aaron Mooy has masterminded a stunning Melbourne City success, ripping Perth Glory to shreds in a 5-1 A-League triumph.

Mooy had a hand in City’s three first-half goals, scored by Erik Paartalu, Connor Chapman and Bruno Fornaroli.

Sidnei’s reply for Glory on the cusp of the break had City fans nervous but they need not have worried.

While City fell apart in their past home games, they completed the job in style on Friday night through Harry Novillo’s thunderbolt and Mooy’s own penalty.

Even worse for Glory, rookie defender Aryn Williams received a second yellow for a challenge on Stefan Mauk with eight minutes remaining.

The result is City’s best A-League home win, lifting them to fifth in the table.

Glory were utterly at sea, conceding 25 shots, but the night belonged to Mooy.

Even by his own lofty standards, the Socceroo enjoyed a stunning night.

After becoming a father for the first time on Wednesday, Mooy crossed for two assists, had a hand in two others, scored himself and even cleared a goal-bound Glory header off the line.

At one point, the midfielder produced a stepover and turn to break away from three opponents in close attention.

Mooy started the party by assisting for Paartalu after five minutes.

His well-weighted cross found the towering midfielder at the back post and the header was deflected in.

On 20 minutes, Mooy was at it again.

Dribbling past a bamboozled Marc Warren, Mooy’s cross found Chapman to drill past Ante Covic at the near post.

With 10 minutes before halftime, Mooy’s arrowed ball from his own half released Corey Gameiro to assist for Fornaroli’s goal.

The Uruguayan fired past Covic for his sixth goal of a brilliant debut A-League season.

But while City were finding the back of the net, Perth plugged away.

After a Richard Garcia header was ruled out for obstruction, Sidnei headed home for Glory in first-half injury time from Nebojsa Marinkovic’s corner.

It was a speed bump and not a road block for City, with Novillo adding his name to the scoresheet on 53 minutes.

The Frenchman was a constant menace to Glory’s back four and unleashed a rasping half-volley for City’s fourth.

Gameiro was helped off with a knee injury on the hour mark, before Williams’ rash challenge on Mauk gave Mooy the platform to cap City’s five-star night from the spot.
