Former Wallaby James O’Connor has helped Toulon secure a 21-17 win over Pau in the Top 14, scoring two tries.

O’Connor’s first was assisted by fellow Australian Quade Cooper, with his second coming after finding space by himself on the wing midway through the second half.

The 25-year-old also had a hand in Toulon’s other try, with an offload setting up Konstantin Mikautadze.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Toulon, however, who had to endure a late fightback inspired by All Blacks Conrad Smith and Colin Slade.

Toulon currently sits fourth on the Top 14 ladder, just two points off the pace of the log-jam top three.
