Nick Kyrgios has endured a winning run of three matches with the world No.30 impressing during the group stage.

Kyrgios got his year off to a winning start after he came back from losing the first set to defeat 18-year-old German Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

He then returned to take on Great Britain’s world No.2 Andy Murray who he stunned in a straight sets win 6-4, 7-6 before he was victorious over Frenchman Kenny de Schepper 6-4, 6-4.

The young Australian has put himself in prime position to go deep into the Australian Open and has been one of the best performers on the ATP World Tour’s opening week. Having almost turned around completely and matured, Kyrgios has a huge fight on his hand in coming up against world No.36 Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Dolgopolov also went through the group stage undefeated starting his 2016 with a win over world No.26 American Jack Sock in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

The Ukrainian has impressed with wins over Czech world No.41 Jiri Vesely 7-5, 7-6 and former world No.1 and Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Dolgopolov will be up against it with the crowd set to be turned against him in support of the host country Australia. Unlike his opponent Nick Kyrgios who defeated Andy Murray, Dolgopolov is yet to come up against any players within the top 20 on the ATP World Tour and his inexperience may prove his downfall.
