Can Samantha Stosur progress to the quarter-finals of the Sydney International or will lucky loser Daniela Hantuchova stop the world number 27? Join The Roar for live scores from around 1pm (AEDT), following the completion of Ekaterina Makarova versus Angelique Kerber.

Stosur had a tough start to 2016, being bundled out of the Brisbane International with a second round loss to Carla Suarez Navarro in three sets 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, after defeating Jana Cepelova in the first round 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

In Sydney Stosur has looked promising so far. After dropping the first set to world number 15 Roberta Vinci, Stosur powered through to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. With Hantuchova replacing Agnieszka Radwanska she is a real chance to get a strong run ahead of the Australian Open.

Sam has won six of her last ten matches.

Hantuchova made her way into the tournament through qualifying and earned a first-round bye following the withdrawal of second seed Radwanska.

Her Sydney International run began by defeating Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets, the Slovakian also defeated Irina Falconi and Lauren Davis in straight sets, with the qualifying wins her first since the first round of the Istanbul Cup back in July 2015.

The two players have met on seven occasions, first at the 2003 Australian Open, where Hantuchova was victorious, but Stosur has won the six subsequent meetings.

The most recent match between the pair came in 2011, when Stosur won in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 at the Madrid Masters.
