The Adelaide Strikers have their hands on top spot, but they’ll need to shake off a desperate Hobart Hurricanes side to stay there. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:10pm (AEDT).

After finishing top of the ladder last season, the Strikers look set to repeat the feat in BBL05 with five wins from their six matches.

They’ve defended their own totals and chased down others to claim win after win – including an impressive sweep of the reigning premier Perth Scorchers in their two games this season.

This is their final home match of the group stage, and they’ll be looking to head into the semi-finals with a full head of steam.

Hobart, on the other hand, are teetering just outside the top four and, with this being their last match of the season, absolutely have to win to sneak in.

Sitting comfortably at 3-1 a while ago, the runs dried up for the Hurricanes. Their total of 5/140 was run down by the Melbourne Renegades with six overs to play, while the Melbourne Stars only needed 15 overs to run down the 124 they put on the board last Wednesday.

Hobart proved they can score when they managed 172 in their most recent loss to the Scorchers, but they shouldn’t need the pressure of the chase to drive their run rate.

Last time these teams clashed, a then-record crowd of 43,288 saw the Strikers chase down Hobart’s total of 136 with eight wickets and 33 balls to spare.

Prediction
Hobart were more than valiant in a one-run loss to the Scorchers on Sunday, but their luck is running out fast, and honour in defeat counts for nothing on the ladder.

They’ll give the Strikers everything they’ve got, but Adelaide are tournament favourites for a very, very good reason.

Strikers by four wickets.
