13th seed Milos Raonic is the first Canadian to reach the semi-finals of the men’s draw at the Australian Open and will be hoping to capitalise on that with a win that will see him go through to the final against Novak Djokovic.

He has currently won nine of his last ten matches and is undefeated for 2016 after he stunned Roger Federer and Bernard Tomic at the Brisbane International defeating the pair in straight sets during the final 6-4, 6-4 and semi-final 7-6, 7-6 respectively.

Raonic has had a brilliant campaign at Melbourne Park with the big server earning early wins in straight sets over Lucas Pouille 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 during the first round, Spaniard Tommy Robredo 7-6, 7-6, 7-5 during the second round and accounted for 21st seed Viktor Troicki in the fourth round 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.

The Montenegro-born world No.14 was then the aggressor of a massive upset sending 2014 champion, world No.4 Stan Wawrinka out of the Australian Open in five sets 6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-3 before he also knocked out French 23rd seed Gael Monfils during the quarter-finals 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The powerful Canadian faces a massive challenge coming up against world No.2 Andy Murray with Raonic the outsider in the match.

Murray goes into the match having won eight of his last ten matches, his only losses coming at last year’s ATP World Tour Finals where he fell at the hands of both Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka in straight sets during the round robin stage.

The second seed began his campaign at Melbourne Park with a straight sets win over German teenager Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 during the first round before knocking out fast serving Australian Sam Groth 6-0, 6-4, 6-1.

Murray was then pushed to four sets against Joao Sousa in the third round 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 and then sent Australian world No.17 Bernard Tomic packing with another straight sets win in the fourth round 6-4, 6-4, 7-6.

The 2015 Davis Cup winner faced a tough match against David Ferrer in the quarter-finals however, he weathered a barrage from the Spaniard going through to the semi-finals with a convincing four-set 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.

The pair has played each other six times with Raonic and Murray both winning three matches.

The two seeds met just once last year with Murray prevailing in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 during the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters in which he finished champion. They have played four matches on hard court with both having won two matches.
