The Australian Ice Hockey League is set to rock again on ice rinks around Australia for its 16th season, with eight teams battling it out for the coveted Goodall Cup.

This year the league will include 112 regular-season games, in which all teams will play each other four times.

The league will kickoff on April 23, with three games to be played, including a Melbourne derby between the Melbourne Mustangs and Melbourne Ice, while the Sydney Ice Dogs take on the Canberra CBR Brave, and Newcastle North Stars play the Adelaide Adrenaline.

The reigning champion North Stars will be looking to keep the Goodall Cup, while the Ice Dogs are out to improve on last year’s performance after winning just two games during the entire 2015 season.

Furthermore, this year the AIHL is set to return to Brisbane, as the Sydney Bears host the Melbourne Ice for a double header at Iceworld Olympic Ice Rink on May the 14 and 15.

After last year’s success, the All Star weekend will return on the weekend of June 11 at Penrith Ice Palace, where the best of Australian ice hockey talent will compete in a skills competition. The All Stars game will see Team Armstrong and Team Schlamp compete for over $25,000 in prizes.

This year is set to be the best year of the AIHL, with the league becoming more well rounded and plenty of close games.
