Sydney find themselves fifth on the ladder after the defeat to Melbourne Victory in the Big Blue on Australia Day.

But a victory against the Roar, who remain in third despite conceding eight goals in their past two matches, would see the Sky Blues move past Brisbane and cement a place in the top Two.

The Roar have not defeated Sydney in their past five matches, with their last victory a 5-2 win at Allianz in late 2013.

Brisbane welcome back three players from Olyroos duty – James Donachie, Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borrello will likely be named in the Roar’s starting XI. John Aloisi will hope it was just their absence that led to their two recent defeats.

The Sky Blues have named their returning Olyroo, defender Alex Gersbach, who should slot straight back into his left-back role.

After conceding so many goals in their past two outings, the focus will be on Brisbane Roar’s back four. Can they bounce back against a Sydney side who have started to hit their straps on home soil?

Prediction
Brisbane will be buoyed with the return of Borrello and Maclaren, however their defensive lapses are a real concern against a Sydney side eager to impress at home.
