The NSW Waratahs have bolstered their side with some more experienced players ahead of their second trial game against the Chiefs tomorrow.

For the backs, Nick Phipps, Kurtley Beale, Matt Carraro and Rob Horne will start, but some younger players who put performed strongly in last week’s win over the Brumbies have been retained.

David Horwitz will keep his position at inside-centre, as will Reece Robinson and Zac Guildford who hang onto their right wing and fullback positions respectively.

Skipper Michael Hooper, Dean Mumm and Tatafu Polota-Nau will step back into the squad and rising star Jack Dempsey will join them.

Brad Wilkin will slot into the number eight position after Jed Holloway was omitted with concussion symptoms.

“Away games are obviously a bit tougher, but the trip to New Zealand will only stand us in good stead”, Daryl Gibson said.

“Being in each other’s company for 10 days touring together will also provide a good opportunity to grow the bonds between us.”
