Match result:

Perth Glory won a nine-goal thriller on Saturday that has seriously lifted their chances of playing finals this season.

The result leaves the Glory in seventh place on the table but just one point behind Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, in fifth and sixth respectively.

In what is becoming a remarkably even A-League ladder, they’re just seven points behind the Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar in the lead.

The Brisbane Roar lead 3-2 at one stage but could not prevent Perth running away to a total of six goals, all from different scorers.

The combined nine goals equalled the previous record for the most in an A-League match.

Final score
Perth Glory 6
Brisbane Roar 3

The league-leading Roar will be looking to cement their place on top of the A-League ladder with a win tonight, but it won’t come easy against an in-form Glory side.

After finding themselves at risk of missing finals at the midway mark of the season, Perth Glory has since rocketed into finals contention and start Round 20 just a game clear of Sydney FC in sixth.

With four wins on the trot under their belt, Glory has been flying in recent weeks and their form would certainly have the Roar worried.

The Roar would also be worried by the knowledge that they haven’t been able to defeat Glory in Perth in their past three visits.

In the Roar’s favour, however, is form against Glory so far this season. In their two meetings the Roar has secured wins 1-0 and 2-1.

With 12 goals in the last four games, Glory seem to have clicked in attack, but whether they can fire tonight against a side that they have struggled to score against this season remains to be seen.
