High profile television presenter Mel McLaughlin has made her second move in three years, this time jumping ship from Channel Ten to Channel Seven.

McLauglin is a well-respected and well-followed sports journalist who most recently hosted the 2016 Big Bash League, as well as the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2014 Winter Olympics.

She began her career at Fox Sports as a presenter, both on Fox Sports News and in hosting the network’s A-League coverage.

Her move has sparked further speculation around Seven’s role in the A-League rights negotiations, with her passion for Australia’s football competition being well known.

At present, however, it is being reported that she will take up the role with Seven to cover the 2016 Rio Olympics, and we can see why after the job she did on the Sochi Games and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

News Corp Australia had the scoop, saying McLaugulin chose not to renew her deal with Ten just months after the infamous Chris Gayle incident, where he told her not to blush in a cringeworthy sideline interview.

If Seven were to get the A-League rights, and McLaughlin were to host the coverage, it would be much to the joy of football fans, among whom she was very popular in her time at Fox Sports.
