Those hoping to secure tickets to the MCG and SCG for the opening rounds of the AFL Premiership regular season were left frustrated by a meltdown of the ticketing system.
The AFL were advised by the MCC that a Ticketek system failure had forced a postponement of all ticket sales for the MCG.
Tickets were first due to go on sale to AFL members this morning, while general public tickets were supposed to be available from midday.
To iron out the issues the release date has been pushed back a week until March 11 for members with no date set yet on when the general public can access.
Footy fans hoping to lock in SCG tickets have also been left in the dark with ticket delays.

While the AFL has apologised to fans it hasn’t stopped social media lighting up with anger from those who said they invested a large part of their day on the Ticketek website only to find out there was no chance of tickets.

There was also plenty of confusion with some fans managing to secure tickets, but wondering whether they were still valid or not.

It’s now a race against time to make sure fans can at least pre-purchase tickets to the opening round with the first bounce at the MCG on March 24 between Richmond and Carlton.
