Seeking their first Sheffield Shield title in 20 years, South Australia have resisted the urge to change a faltering top order for the final against Victoria.

Redbacks coach Jamie Siddons on Wednesday named an unchanged 12-man squad for the home decider starting on Saturday.

The Redbacks have not passed 100 before the loss of their third wicket in their past eight innings, but Simmons says he has full confidence in the likes of experienced opener Mark Cosgrove, who has not scored a Sheffield Shield 50 since December.

“We’ve got through the new balls all year,” Simmons said.

“I’m really confident about our batting.

“The way they are hitting the ball they are about to explode and what a great time to do it.

“Cozzy has got through the new ball and made 30s all year. If he can turn that into a hundred like he has done in the past, he’s won Shields before.”

Simmons also said he expected a slightly more batter-friendly wicket at Glenelg’s Gliderol Stadium, compared to the one which allowed his team to beat Tasmania within two days last week.
