The Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) is the opening Group 1 on Doncaster Day. Join The Roar shortly after the race start time of 3:10pm AEDT for all the results of this race.

Guelph won this race last year, but some of the greats have won this. Octagonal in 1995 springs to mind, and more recently the highly rated Pierro in 2012 won this in his brilliantly short career.

Extremely hard to go past David Vandyke’s Yankee Rose who nearly won the Golden Slipper first up. Will benefit from that run and won’t be easy to beat here.

Telperion came from last in the Slipper to sneak into fourth, he had one of the fastest last 600m journeys, and looks to be the main rival of Yankee Rose.

Good Standing got back in the Slipper but held his ground, won the Skyline prior to that, has the talent and could provide some value at double figure odds.

Detective is extremely competitive without winning. Runner-up behind some smart juveniles but had uncontested lead and looked to have her chance in VRC Sires’. Consider especially at double figure odds.

Attention comes to this race from the Snowdens. Just missed leader/winner on debut. Trialled well before solid fresh run. Ridden closer and found plenty latest. At $26 looks to be the blowout chance of the race.

Omei Sword comes from a highly respected family of horses. She cost $675,000. Dam won Thousand Guineas. Debut win impressive. Ran fastest last 600m of Magic Night. Should really go well here and has Brett Prebble on board which is a plus.

Chimboraa was very green in the Pago Pago. Has been competitive in the last three and could do anything here.

This race looks extremely open and two-year-old races are generally quite unpredictable to pick, I am going to go with Yankee Rose but am also looking for a bit of value as well.

Brent Ford Selections
1. Yankee Rose
2. Telperion
3. Attention
4. Omei Sword
