Sunderland will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone when they host Arsenal at the Stadium of Light. Join The Roar from 11:05pm AEST for live scores.

After a highly disappointing season, Sunderland find themselves staring down the barrel of relegation with time running out.

Sitting one point outside of the safe zone, the Black Cats will be desperate for a win over an inconsistent Arsenal side.

Sunderland are coming off a hugely important win over Norwich City, a performance that gave them a bit more hope of staying in the top flight.

Fabio Borini, Jermain Defore and Duncan Watmore all found the net for the Black Cats in their 3-nil win over Norwich away from home.

Sunderland also have a little bit of breathing space, having only played 33 games, the Black Cats have a game in hand over 17th placed Norwich and two games in hand over 16th placed Crystal Palace.

After letting the best chance they have had of becoming Premier League champions in the last 10 seasons slip through their fingers, Arsenal will be looking to end their season on a strong note.

The Gunners are finally coming off a win, beating West Bromwich Albion in their fixture.

Before that, Arsene Wenger’s men let two leads against Crystal Palace and West Ham United go to waste much to the dismay of fans.

Alexis Sanchez scored twice in the first half for the Gunners to secure the the 2-nil win over West Bromwich at home.

Arsenal will enter the Stadium of Light full of confidence, the Gunners have won their past four games against Sunderland, and are unbeaten against the Black Cats in their past five.

The last time these two sides faced was in January. Despite Jeremain Lens giving Sunderland the early lead, Joel Campbell, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud were able to hit back to give Arsenal the 3-1 win at the Emirates.

With less pressure on Arsenal than before, they should be able to get the victory. However, Sunderland are desperate for a win, and if Arsenal are to let their guard down, the Black Cats will pounce.

Prediction
Sunderland 1 – 2 Arsenal
