Nathan Buckley and Eddie McGuire, you are tremendous. Your contribution to Collingwood and the AFL has been outstanding.

You will both have statues erected to stand by Lou Richards and Bob Rose at the Holden Centre. But it’s time to go.

The Collingwood supporter base has overseen your management of the club for many years. Most recently it has parted company with Dayne Beams, Heritier Lumumba, Heath Shaw, Paul Seedsman and Ben Kennedy. All regulars at their new clubs while their replacements struggle at Collingwood.

Sharrod Wellingham and Jonathon Ceglar too.

These were list changes that supporters were told would allow the Pies to rebuild a list to take on the Gold Coast Suns and Greater Western Sydney. OK, we’ll live with that one… for a while.

But the list is awful.

Ben Sinclair’s disposal is awful. He is not up to AFL standard. He will not play in Collingwood’s next flag and should not play again. Jesse White and a couple of others should join him. White’s game against Melbourne was the worst effort I’ve ever seen in a Collingwood jumper.

Brent Macaffer, Nathan Brown, Tyson Goldsack, Dane Swan and Alan Toovey, the supporters love you, and thank you, but you are done.

Jordan De Goey, Taylor Adams, Jack Frost, Tim Broomhead, Josh Smith, Brayden Maynard, Jeremy Howe, Jack Crisp, Levi Greenwood and Corey Gault will never reach the level required. They cannot dispose of the ball.

The jury is out on Tom Langdon, Mason Cox, Jarryd Blair, Adam Oxley, James Aish.

Brodie Grundy is just not tall enough. He is brave, but Nic Naitanui, Aaron Sandilands, Todd Goldstein and just about any other ruckman beats him in the centre. This means no centre clearance domination and no wins for the Pies.

Jarrod Witts has no presence at all.

In fact, who is worthy of playing in Collingwood’s next premiership? Scott Pendlebury, Adam Treloar, Jamie Elliott, Marley Williams, Ben Reid, Travis Varcoe, Steele Sidebottom, Darcy Moore and Travis Cloke. Yes, Cloke!

The real problem is that Buckley has not picked the best Collingwood team available in all games this year. He is so intent on having his way, he doesn’t pick the best side.

Surely Cloke, an all-Australian, is worth more in the seniors? Buckley oversaw Cloke’s new contract in 2012, nurtured him, coached him, loved him and now he is not getting a game. It’s bizarre.

Does that mean Buckley has lost Cloke too? How about playing him at centre-half-forward and getting someone to help him out? Buckley has ruined the best contested mark in the league.

There are five players getting a game in front of Cloke who are unworthy – Broomhead, Howe, Cox, White and Smith. They have displayed far worse effort than Cloke. Are they really better inclusions?

The bottom line is that after five years of list management, the letting go of some club greats, drugs allegations, much bluster and hot wind, Collingwood is a bottom four club. If Eddie can’t make the change, he must go too.
