Bronco Blair facing one-game ban for chicken wing

Brisbane forward Adam Blair is facing a one-match NRL ban after being charged with committing a chicken wing tackle during New Zealand’s Anzac Test defeat in Newcastle.

Blair has been hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge by the judiciary after the incident in the second half of the Kiwis’ 16-0 loss to Australia last Friday.

The tackle Blair has been cited for was on Kangaroos forward and fellow Bronco Sam Thaiday, who emerged unharmed from the incident.

Even with an early guilty plea, Blair will miss this Saturday’s clash against Manly at Suncorp Stadium.

If Blair is unsuccessful in fighting the charge he will miss two matches.

Prior to last weekend’s representative fixture, Blair also missed the Broncos’ 30-28 defeat by Cronulla in round nine due to suspension.

Brisbane have until midday on Tuesday to decide what action they will take.
