NRL football returns this week, as the 11th-placed St George Illawarra Dragons host the seventh-placed Canberra Raiders from Kogarah. Catch all the action live on The Roar from 7:45pm (AEST).

The Dragons have had a tough start to the year and the rep-round break should benefit them.

Joel Thompson and Tim Lafai are included this weekend. Thompson hasn’t been at his destructive best, with injuries and suspension interrupting his season, and he will be out to impress tonight.

Benji Marshall holds on to the number 7 jersey and will partner Gareth Widdop in the halves.

A big crowd should pack in to see this one, with the Dragons hoping to improve to five and five for the season.

The Raiders were last-start losers to the Panthers in Bathurst, although they were gallant and played the full length of the game to almost steal a win. Ricky Stuart has named an unchanged line-up from that match, and will look to dominate up the middle through Paul Vaughan and fellow big bopper Shannon Boyd.

Josh Hodgson will be out to extend his Dally M lead – watch out for his dangerous 40/20 kicking ability.

The key match-up tonight is at fullback, with Josh Dugan against Jack Wighton. Both are backing up from rep footy and will play an integral part if their side is to get the win.

There seven players backing up from Sunday’s City vs Country clash, so tired legs could play a part late in the affair.

Prediction
It’s always tough tipping after a week off, but the Raiders are in better overall form.

Prediction: Raiders by 8
