Real Madrid‘s late season charge could yet see them crowned La Liga champions if they defeat Deportivo La Coruna away from home in the last round. Join The Roar for live scores from 1am AEST.

It appeared that Real’s season was on the verge of collapse two months ago, given that they were as much as 10 points behind arch rivals FC Barcelona on the domestic front.

Throw in a 2-nil defeat to Vfl Wolsburg in the Champions League quarter-final first leg and Real were once again on the verge of producing another poor European campaign.

On the back of the inspired form of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo however, Real have regained their mojo and are now on the verge of securing the first trophy of what could be a remarkable double if Barcelona once again stumble at the final hurdle.

If the Catalan giants fail to secure victory against Granada, Real will become champions of Spain so long as they defeat Deportivo tonight. Such a result would further boost a team already high on morale following a successful run to yet another Champions League final.

The only concern for Real remains on the injury front with Bale in particular struggling for fitness ahead of the match against Deportivo. The last thing Real need is to risk injury to arguably their most decisive player at the moment.

Even if Bale is rested, Real have more than enough attacking quality in their ranks to dispose of Deportivo away from home, particularly if Ronaldo finds his range early.

Whether or not victory tonight means anything for Real though largely depends on what their great Catalan rivals produce simultaneously against Granada. Regardless of the result, Real will still be satisfied knowing full well they have a far bigger occasion to look forward to against Atletico on May 28 at the San Siro.
