Martin Taupau is set for another stint on the sidelines after being hit with a grade two dangerous throw charge by the NRL match review committee.

The Manly forward faces a three-match ban for his tackle on Brisbane’s Matt Gillett in the second half of the Broncos’ 30-6 win at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

Taupau was suspended for one match earlier this season, due to a high shot on Cronulla’s Jack Bird.

The loading from that offence means that, even with an early guilty plea in regard to the tackle on Gillett, Taupau will miss three matches.

That would make the Kiwis international next available for Manly’s round 15 clash with Gold Coast in Queensland, as the club enjoys a round 12 bye over the State of Origin period.

Warriors centre Solomone Kata faces a one-match suspension for making dangerous contact with Jamie Soward in Penrith’s win in Christchurch on Saturday.

Loading from a prior offence has tipped Kata over the 100 points-one match mark.

St George Illawarra forward Joel Thompson is the only other player so far facing suspension from round 10.

Thompson will serve a one-match ban if he takes the early guilty plea for a high tackle on Canberra playmaker Blake Austin in the Dragons’ win on Thursday.

Thompson has also been suspended already this year, for a high shot on Sydney Roosters forward Aidan Guerra on Anzac Day.

Parramatta’s Isaac DeGois and Beau Scott (both tripping) can avoid bans if they take early guilty pleas.
