Our pockets got fleeced last weekend after a fair streak. Let’s check out this week’s best bets for Round 11 of the NRL.

Rabbitohs versus Dragons
The Dragons were lucky last week in getting the winning try in golden point against the Raiders, as the game could have gone either way with a number of field goals snapped at the death. Leading up to that dramatic finish the Dragons play was sloppy first grade footy, and pretty similar to what we’ve been seeing from the Red V this year.

With Benji Marshall out this week with his dodgy hammy, I just cannot see where the points will come to beat Souths. But let’s not forget last week was Souths’ first win since Round 5, way back in March! This is a side on paper that should at least be on the verge of the top four, not sitting outside the eight.

Last week the Bunnies showed a steely nerve in beating a determined Eels side 22-20, in the last minute. Greg Inglis has again been named at five eighth, but we expect a late shuffle with G.I. to the centres where he is potent in attack, as Cody Walker was named on the wing. Souths by 8.

Best Bet: Rabbitohs WIN @ $1.45

Feeling Lucky: Rabbitohs 13+ @ $2.65

Cowboys versus Broncos
Friday night footy is very exciting this week, so grab a slab, because we’ve got a grand final replay showcasing two teams that are running hot. Yes the Cowboys may have come up short in a 15-14 loss last start against a dogged Storm, but what is not to like about this team?

The forwards are powerful and skilful, their backs are creative and silky and it’s very possible we are looking at the first team to go back to back in the modern NRL era. (Odds @4.50 for the Cowboys premiership).

The top of the table Broncos are humming along with only two losses for the year, and their halves are firing. They welcome back Adam Blair, Alex Glenn and Andrew McCullough to their forward pack, which only makes this more mouth-watering.

This is set to be the game of the round by a long stretch. The two sides met in Round 4 for a 21-20 Broncos win, and this will be another classic.

We are leaning towards the Cowboys due to home advantage, and with JT primed for a big one, the Cowboys will be looking to reassert their Queenslandauthority. Cowboys by 1.

Best Bet: Cowboys -2.0 @1.90

Feeling lucky: Cowboys 1-12 @3.10

Feeling very lucky: Draw @21.00. I’ve just got that feeling.

Wests Tigers versus Knights
As you can imagine, this one doesn’t prick up the ears like the previous game, with the Tigers sitting 14th and the Knights dead last. Both putting up performances that make old mate Caitlyn Jenner look half decent in the right light.

Not much to report here except that the Tigers will win against a Knight’s side that is low on troops, confidence and prospects. Despite both team’s inability to score against the better sides in 2016, this should still be a high scoring affair. Tigers by 12.

Best bet: Tigers WIN @1.35

Feeling lucky: Tigers 13+ @2.20

Warriors versus Raiders
The Warriors run out for their first outing at Yarrow Stadium, on the North Island of New Zealand. This also happens to be Isaac Luke’s home town, which is great for him having been named to start this week. The Warriors are the definition of hot and cold with LWLWL coming from their last five starts, only slightly better than the Raiders last five of LLWLL.

According to the dodgy punting law of patterns, both teams are due a win this week.

The Raiders last start was no good, going down to the Red V in a game that resembled third grade, and they are again weakened this week with tackle machine Fensom sidelined. This will be won by the team that can get the most out of the big fellas, with both forward packs being massive. Still, we think the Warriors may have an edge in the back end. Warriors by 6.

Best Bet: Warriors -2.0 @1.90

Feeling Lucky: Warriors 1-12 @3.20

Sharks versus Sea Eagles
The Sharks are the form team of the competition, flying with seven wins in a row, which includes a 62-0 hammering of the hapless Knights last weekend, in which Holmes racked up four tries.

Manly will not be looking forward to meeting Cronulla in their current form, with the Sharks holding a 17.6 +/- points advantage on the season. Many astute pundits have the Sharkies as their smokey for the premiership ($5.00), and we tend to agree, if they can keep up this vein of form.

Manly are a team that is improving, but they are not the team of yesteryear. Let’s be honest, Manly do not have a shot at winning this one. The Sharks to post a big score, maybe not as big as last weeks, but enough to pull them both over the 39.5 total points line. Sharks by 14.

Best Bet: Sharks -8.5 @1.91

Feeling Lucky: Sharks 13+ @2.25

Panthers versus Titans
This game suddenly became interesting following the Titans convincing 26-6 win over the Roosters last weekend. The Titans keep their tag as the league’s battlers despite a 26-6 underdog win over the Roosters last weekend. We still find it tough to tip them this week however.

The Panthers are now in the top eight, in seventh spot, and with a very solid team (almost an all-rep back line) and a dream run over the coming weeks, we expect to see them glued to the top eight until the end of the season.

The odds here for the Panthers at $1.28 is horribly short, but still worth a few sprinkles on your weekend multi. Panthers by 10.

Best bet: Panthers WIN @1.28, just some extra topping on a multi.

Feeling lucky: Tyrone Peachey anytime tryscorer @2.37

Bulldogs versus Roosters
In years gone by this match-up would have had people wetting themselves in anticipation, but this weekend, not so much.

The Roosters have been agonisingly close in their losses this year, but they fell further back to earth with a thud in a 26-6 loss against the Titans last weekend. The Roosters lacked control and composure, and it will be a long suffering year for their fans with a top eight finish seemingly long gone. As the pressure mounts, we think it will affect their performances in a negative way.

The Bulldogs on the other hand are hot and cold, and boring teams to death with their forward oriented game. Surely Dessie has to realise it’s not working.

This one is a tough one to call, with a bounce back factor to consider for the Roosters. Bulldogs by 2.

Best Bet: Bulldogs WIN @1.55

Feeling Lucky: Roosters +4.5 @1.91

Eels versus Storm
This game has a lot to like about it, with a desperate Eels team searching for their first win post salary cap scandal, and the Storm just rolling last seasons premiers 15-14 at Suncorp Stadium.

If Parramatta want to make the eight they need to start winning games, and they will be desperate to win this week, which may be unlikely if Foran is not back to guide the ship. The Storm are on a bit of a run with four wins in a row, and when you consider their apparent backline crises, it shows just how deep they are running.

The Eels are currently $1.85 favourites with the bookies, with the Storm at $2.00. Come game time we expect the Storm to be favourites. How can they not after containing that Cowboys side? Get on the while the value is still there. Storm by 6.

Best Bet: Storm +1.5 @1.90

Feeling Lucky: Storm WIN @2.00
