GWS proved to be to strong today dominating the tackle count and the kick count. The Bulldogs struggled to win the football and when going forward the Giants had all the answers across half back.

The win extended their club record winning streak to six and advanced them to 7-2, their best-ever start to a season.

Forward Jeremy Cameron kicked five goals for the Giants, who were down two players early with backs Tim Mohr and Matt Buntine each leaving the field in the first quarter.

Heath Shaw was outstanding for GWS and Marcus Bontempelli had 32 touches for the Bulldogs, who had Lin Jong reported for a first quarter bump on Buntine.

For all the pre-match talk of contested possessions being vital, GWS finished 13 behind in that count.

Down by five at the first change, the Bulldogs briefly hit the front through a Jake Stringer goal.

The Giants kicked the next five majors to set up a 17-point buffer by halftime and two opportunistic goals to veteran forward Steve Johnson swelled their advantage to 34 points by the final change.

The match was watched by a crowd of 9612.

1: Toby Greene – 22 touches, 14 kicks, 8 handballs. Managed to slot 3 goals home and provide plenty of run for the Giants with 7 inside 50s.

With AAP.
