Geelong have already done what many thought impossible. They made four grand finals in five years, winning three, while making the finals eight years in a row.

In the salary cap era, no team should be able to maintain the winning percentage that Geelong have.

After a disappointing year last year, they have rebounded.

Not a few ladder positions, but they have jumped right up to second on the ladder, with the best percentage, fewest points against, and second most points for in the competition.

Their most recent game aside, they have beaten teams in finals contention, barring the loss to GWS where their kicking was atrocious in the first term when they dominated play.

Their game against Hawthorn was one for the ages.

Against the premiers of the past three years the Cats showed no signs of a team that had played under three games together.

Pat Dangerfield and Joel Selwood had never played together, and Dangerfield produced a game like no other.

But their game isn’t dependent on arguably the best one-two punch in the game. Their midfield depth has to be seen to be believed.

Josh Caddy is only growing in his knowledge and his added midfield grunt is outstanding. Mitch Duncan is one of the cleanest midfielders in the game, and was leading the cat’s best and fairest until he broke his foot against the swans last season.

Cam Guthrie is showing his amazing potential, and his game against Adelaide only confirmed what many Geelong fans already knew.

Steven Motlop is showing how dangerous he can be around goals, and is continuously worrying oppositions. And then there is Mark Blicavs. The man who can do it all. play him in any position on the ground, from a tall forward to small defender to the ruck.

His development from a runner to an elite AFL player in under four years astounds me. Last year he won Geelong’s Best and Fairest and he is still learning. It is scary to think what he could become, and according to Chris Scott, he has a “Insatiable appetite for knowledge (about the game)”.

Bicavs can do it all. For a 198cm bloke, he can tackle extraordinarily well. He is winning the third man up hit outs and has a very high number of disposals.

Up forward Geelong are a force to be reckoned with. Once kicking straight, they are one of the most potent forward lines in the league. The reliable defence.

They are so under rated, but, if the ball ever goes down there, Geelong fans can sit back knowing it will be coming straight back out.

The ins soon will make this good team great. Names like Scott Selwood, Mitch Clark, Josh Cowan, Jake Kolodjashnij, Nakia Cockatoo and Nathan Vardy.

On their day Geelong can overcome any team.

In coming years, the defence will retire. And, with only four players remaining with three premiership medallions, the time is now.

The old warriors are willing to give it one more shot. Our middle aged group is fit and ready to fire. The young kittens are all showing talent and posses the excitement the group needs.

Get ready AFL. The Cats are here for real.
