Agnieszka Radwanska will be under siege when she faces off against France’s Fed Cup representative Caroline Garcia in the second round of the French Open. Join The Roar for live scores from around 12:30am (AEST).

Radwanska is locked in a two-horse race for first place in the WTA Rankings with Serena Williams, after Angelique Kerber crashed out of the French Open in the first round, with a shock loss to Kiki Bertens.

The Polish star has never won a grand slam before and has been in just one final, at Wimbledon in 2012.

It was a poor lead-up to the French Open for Radwanska, with an early exit at Madrid and semi-final loss to world No.37 Laura Siegemund at Stuttgart.

However, she showed why she is ranked second in the world, winning the 2015 WTA finals after she heavily defeated Bojana Jovanovski in straight sets, conceding just two games.

Garcia is coming off a tournament win at Strasbourg after defeating Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in the final 6-4, 6-1.

The world No.40 has won seven of her last ten matches, after defeating Lesia Tsurenko in the first round 6-3, 7-5, who sits just one spot behind Garcia in the rankings.

Garcia and Radwanska have met on three occasions, with each going to three sets.

Their most recent meeting came at Dubai in 2015, when Radwanska progressed to the third round with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory.

The other two clashes between the pair came in 2014 with a win each to Radwanska and Garcia at Madrid and Wuhan respectively, with Garcia shocking her opponent in a come-from-behind win.

The winner takes on either 30th seed Barbora Strycova or Polona Hercog in the third round.

Prediction
Garcia will be in the match right up until the end but Radwanska will advance.

Radwanska in three sets.
