Novak Djokovic cruised through the first round of the French Open and will look to do the same in the second when he faces Steve Darcis. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from around 9pm (AEST).

The world no.1 made light work of his first round opponent Yen-Hsun Lu in dispatching of him 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.

He is looking to secure his first ever French Open while also becoming the third player to win four consecutive Grand Slams after winning Wimbledon and the US Open in 2015, coupled with the Australian Open earlier this year.

With Djokovic looking noticeably out of sync in the first set and potentially seeming under the weather a few pundits raised questions. Those were quickly dispatched in the second set when the Djoker got his game going and steamrolled his way to victory, never looking back.

Darcis also had a relatively easy first round match-up when he disposed of Marsel Ilhan in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-0. He’ll need all the conserved energy to be put into this performance if he wants a chance of causing the miracle upset.

This will be the third match-up between these two with the most recent being in the 2015 World Tour Masters 1000 in Miami where Djokovic won 6-0, 7-5.

Prediction
Djokovic was slow out of the gate in his first round match but once he got going he was in top form. Darcis will be up for the fight but it doesn’t look like he will be able to do much damage against the best in the world.

The bookmakers have this one listed as a one-sided affair and it’s hard not to agree with them.
