After their second relegation in seven years, Newcastle finally have something to cheer about, with Rafa Benitez announcing he has signed a three-year deal with the club.

Newcastle were poor during the 2015-16 Premier League season, but after the announcement that Benitez was joining the club to try and avoid relegation, the team started to perform well and claimed points against top-four clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.

But despite finally performing the way fans had been waiting for from the start of the season, the club still wasn’t able to save themselves from relegation.

Still, there are bright signs ahead for the club under Benitez. Many fans believed the Spaniard would accept the release clause in his contract, which stated he would be able to leave the club if they were relegated from the Premier League. But Benitez believes he can win trophies at the Toon and promote them back to the Premier League for the 2017-18 season.

The fans will be hoping that with the money he has available, Benitez can attract good players and keep the talent already at the club.

With Benitez’s three-year deal the future looks bright for the Magpies, as he goes out getting players to help the club reach the Premier League again.
