With nine wins in her last ten matches, world No.1 and defending champion Serena Williams has fire in her belly and will be eager to go all the way again in 2016.

Williams is coming off the back of a tournament win at Rome where she defeated Madison Keys in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 and has had a strong start to the French Open.

In the opening two rounds, the American has dropped just five games with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Magdalena Rybarikova in the first round and a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Teliana Pereira in the second.

Her toughest opponent so far in the tournament awaits her however with 26th seed Kristina Mladenovic also yet to lose a set this year.

The French sensation has had victories over Francesca Schiavone 6-2, 6-4 and Timea Babos 6-4, 6-3, and a win over Serena Williams would be a massive upset.

It’s not going to come easy for her however with the 23-year old needing to be at her best if she is to stand a chance against the world No.1.

Leading into the French Open, Mladenovic struggled with early exits at Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome before she reached the semifinals of Strasbourg being knocked out by Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in what was a heavy loss.

She has won six of her last ten matches including a win over Richel Hogenkamp in the Fed Cup which helped to launch France into the final.

The pair have never played each other before.

The winner will take on either 14th seed Ana Ivanovic or 18th seed Elina Svitolina in the fourth round.

Prediction
Serena Williams will be far too strong as the world No.1 looks to win her fourth French Open crown.
