After an incredible final few days in the mountains, the general classification riders places are locked in, now it is time for sprinters to finish of what has been a fabulous race.

The final stage starts in the town of Cuneo, and it will take the riders 163 kilometres before they reach the finish line in Torino. It is completely pan flat and downhill from the startline in Cuneo, with the only two obstacles being the two intermediate sprints in Racconigi (65 kilometres) and in Torino itself in one of the earlier circuits after 133 kilometres.

Today’s sprint will be a war of attrition; who has the legs after a a difficult 20 days of racing, and a brutual final two days in the mountains? The sprinter with the most energy and the fastest kick in the final after three weeks of racing will win today.

The race will come into Torino after around 110 kilometres on the stage, and complete eight laps of a punchy 7.5 kilometre circuit, which feature a punchy climb in the first kilometres of the circuit which will most certainly soften up the sprinters, while also provide a platform for attacks to go away.

So who are the contenders in my opinion for the days stage?

Can Giacomo Nizzolo take his first Giro Stage win? That is the question on everybodies lips as the Points Classification leader heads into this final sprint as the faourite for the stage.

However, the Italian will get competition from compatriot Sacha Modolo, who has already two podiums, witha further three top five finishes in sprints so far this Giro. After coming into the race on top form with two stage wins at the Tour of Turkey, he would love to beat Nizzolo and take the win infront of the home fans.

There is only one rider who can logically take the Points Classification off Nizzolo, and that is Matteo Trentin, who enters the stage 44 points behind Nizzolo. Trentin will need to win the stage, and Nizzolo score no points for Trentin to take the red jersey. He will like the punchy climbs in the circuit to break up the race, and potentially soften up the pure sprinters.

Other riders to look out for include Sonny Colbrelli, Ramunas Navarduskas, Kristian Sparagli, Heinrich Haussler, Nikias Arndt and Alexander Porsev.
