25th seed for the French Open, Irina-Camelia Begu will face a tough assignment in the fourth round against Shelby Rogers who will be full of confidence. Join The Roar for live scores from around 9pm (AEST).

Begu might have had a seeding coming into the second grand slam of the year, but she has struggled to display any real dominance, being taken to three sets in each of her matches so far across the first three rounds.

She hasn’t had an easy draw by any stretch of the imagination, but she would have expected to be more dominant against both Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the first round, and Coco Vandeweghe in the second round. Particularly that second round match, where the third set went all the way to 10-8 in what was an epic battle.

The third round saw her take Annika Beck who wasn’t far off getting a seed for the Open, and again it went to three sets. This time though she was dominant, taking the final set 6-1.

Rogers on the other hand had to take on Karolina Pliskova in the first round, winning that in three sets and being quite dominant through the third – winning it 6-3. She would then defeat Elena Vesnina in straight sets, before coming up against 10th seed Petra Kvitova.

In what was a strong performance she won 6-0, 6-7, 6-0, only looking challenged throughout the second set – and even for periods of that running away with the match.

Begu though, absolutely loves it on the clay court and it is her favourite surface by quite a margin. While the same can’t be said for Rogers, just don’t take her anywhere near grass and she will perform relatively well.

Both players are already into what is their best ever performance at the French Open. Begu has never made it passed the third round in five attempts, while for Rogers she has played three tournaments at Roland Garros and never made it out of the second round.
