The Crusaders sit bottom of the Super Rugby Pacific ladder after nine rounds. Are they done?
The Crusaders’ David Havili and Hitoshi Ono from the Sunwolves have been cited for foul play in Super Rugby matches on Saturday.
Reserve back Havili is accused of striking a Blues player with a swinging arm to the neck in the Blues-Crusaders match in Auckland.
Upon reviewing the match footage the citing commissioner deemed the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.
Ono is alleged to have struck a Brumbies player with his head during their game in Canberra.
The referee awarded a yellow card for the incident and upon reviewing the match footage the citing commissioner deemed the incident had met the red card.
Both citings are to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Michael Heron QC.
The Crusaders’ Ryan Crotty has also been issued with a citing commissioner warning for contravening a dangerous tackle law during against the Blues.
Inside centre Crotty was accused of making contact with a Blues player’s head while attempting a tackle.
The referee for the match did not act upon the incident but on reviewing the match footage the citing commissioner deemed a Citing Commissioner Warning was appropriate.
