2016 has been an up-and-down year for Des Hasler and his team, and they need to start stringing some wins together after a last-start loss to the Raiders in Round 12.
A team with a big forward pack and some smooth movers in the back line, the Bulldogs sit in fifth on the ladder with seven wins and five losses.
Thankfully for Dogs fans, Origin stars Josh Morris, David Klemmer and Josh Jackson have been named to return to the team. With their big forwards back, expect halves Josh Reynolds and Moses Mbye to have more of an impact.
Sitting pretty on top of the ladder heading into Round 13, the Sharks are in a position the club has not experienced in a long time, and Shane Flanagan has his players focussed solely on winning football games.
With key players James Maloney, Andrew Fifita and Paul Gallen all involved in Origin over the next six weeks, things may get a bit tougher for Cronulla, although all three have been named to back up. Expect Jack Bird to put in a big performance after being left out of the Blues side for Game 1.
In selection news, the Bulldogs welcome back Will Hopoate and Josh Morris, while David Klemmer and Josh Jackson will back up from Wednesday night. Out of the Bulldogs team goes Reimis Smith, Tyrone Phillips, Danny Fualalo and Greg Eastwood (knee).
On the other side, Andrew Fifita, James Maloney and Paul Gallen have all been named by Cronulla to back up from Wednesday night.
While the Bulldogs lead the overall head-to-head 17-9, things have changed this year, with the Sharks looking like a whole new side compared to the one that has been there through recent tough times.
Prediction
With all of their stars backing up from Origin, plus countless other in-form stars who didn’t play on Wednesday night, the Sharks will win.
Sharks by 12 points.
Will the Sharks continue their run of form, or will the Bulldogs pull off a big upset at home? Join us here on The Roar from 7pm (AEST) for live scores and coverage of the game.
